The Bar Harbor Jam Company
was founded in 1989 as a winter project at the Cottage Street bakery in
Bar Harbor, Maine. For years, the Cottage Street Bakery was transformed
into a jam and jelly making factory in the winter months. Originally
producing about 10,000 jars of preserves in several varieties, the
company has grown immensely in recent years.
The
company now is housed in its own year-round facility and produces over
90,000 jars per year. It is still located in Bar Harbor, Maine and
produces high quality products in the traditional small hand-made
batches that it became famous for. Only the finest selections of
natural, native fruits are used to ensure the best possible taste and
quality.
The Bar
Harbor Jam Company now produces over 40 products and also carries other
fine Maine-made gifts and gourmet products. While wholesale production
is a large part of its business retail orders are shipped daily to all
parts of the United Sates.
Periwinkle
Publishing publishes a variety of Maine-based cookbooks that are
popular throughout New England. Periwinkle Publishing is a subsidiary
of the Bar Harbor Jam Company.
